About Me
My name is Nate Hoover. I'm a writer. I currently work in higher ed. I also draw cartoons and teach writing.
Writing Under the Writing
Writing Under the Writing is a weekly blog / newsletter where I process ideas and experiences related to my writing projects (fiction, poetry, and non-fiction). It’s the “compost pile” that fosters the growth of my writing practice. I have three main categories I write about: writing, theology, and grief. Below are some posts to give you a taste of what you can expect here.
Writing
Spirituality
Grief

About Me (Part 003): Death
Trigger warning: talk of death. At section 16, I tell my own story of child loss.
About Me (Part 001): Dinosaurs
I’ve decided not to simply write a summary of my life to date, highlighting certain threads and events. Instead, I’m taking it slow. From time to time, I will write other “About Me” posts, each with its own flavor. Instead of a continuous story, I will share some snapshots, what Patricia Hampl suggests we call “vignettes,” the “unsorted heap of images w…
